LOST IN TRANSLATION
Are you looking to hire returning veterans but unsure how their military background translates into the skills needed at your company? The training and knowledge of returning veterans often get lost in translation when applied to the private sector. The WorkForce Center is sponsoring a business seminar to help your company’s human resources staff hire returning veterans who have the skills and expertise needed in your industry. Aj Santiago, a United States military veteran, will share his experiences returning home and looking for employment after his deployment to Iraq ended. The transition from military to manufacturing wasn’t all that hard for Aj. The manufacturing world was full of standards, new technology and attention to detail, just like the military. Mike Ellsworth, from the Department of Employment and Economic Development, will provide an interactive session on the military-to-civilian skills translator from Career One Stop.
